Almost finished

Well, I have almost completed the Eskimo sweater. I have decided that it looks a little frumpy and boxy on. So, I'm going to attempt a little altering. I'm planning on knitting a belt to tie the sweater as more of a kimono style wrap. I think it should work. We shall see.
I also attempted the 3/4 length sleeves, but as you can see, they turned out almost normal length. They are a little bit at a weird length, but maybe with at a little blocking, they will work better.
And, I just had to add one of my favorite pics of my kitty relaxing and overseeing my knitting.

Favorites

So, yes, I have a lack of photo...I do have the back nicely knit up, along with the left side. but, many other projects going on at the same time. I will post a pic soon. I so am going to knit this from the top down next time (there will probably be a next time, after a few more projects have been completed! ).

Questions for wonderful KAL knitters.....

What is your favorite yarn to use, and why?

Where is your favorite place and/or website to get this yarn?

I'm looking for a little yarn inspiration...I have enough pattern inspiration for now....but just wanting a little more variety in the yarn! Thanks! Happy Knitting

Weighing In

Progress at last, and here's my proof:
Photobucket
Doing the same mods as the first one - top down raglan. Seems as though I've cast on the right amount of stitches.
Now, on the hunt for the perfect buttons.

Seen any hot pink ones?

I've started on mine

Finally made up my mind which version to do and decided on the less bulky and started on it last night. That means I will have tons of leftover wool, but I'm thinking it won't hurt to have more stash! I may even make her some gloves to match as a surprise.

This is the back up to the 6th decrease.

Finished!

Here it is! I finished my sweater!

Wanna see the back?

This is a heavily modified version of the sweater. Mods a go-go. I knit it from the top down, I changed the collar, the front panels are wider, and I added more buttons. I actually didn't look at the pattern. Not once.

This is first sweater I've knit that I have worn outside the house-- and inside the house! It's a little big, but all the better for layering with. It was also really fast which is how I like my sweaters.

I will leave you with a final picture of my I'm-too-cool-to-do-up-my-sweater pose:

Buttons!

Do you ever stumble on a store that when you enter you just stand around gaping, you find everything you need and then after you leave you wonder how you never knew about the place in the first place? That was my experience finding these buttons. There's a store clse to where I work that had wals of buttons. I spent an hour looking at buttons! And I found the perfect buttons for my sweater. Here they are:

And it's all I have to do to finish the sweater! I have woven in the ends (all of them!) and nw the buttons are left. Should be done tommorrow and then after I get some lovely pictures I'll be able to show you how it looks!

Eskimo Sweater for my twin sister

Hi everyone...I've not yet started on the sweater but will try to cast on this week and get started. I guess I haven't been too thrilled to do this, although I love the pattern very, very much, because I'm not especially fond of the color yarn my sister chose for this. The color will look great on her though and the sweater is perfect for her too...she lives where it is very cold, not to mention the style is also perfect for her petite frame.
She chose Knit Picks Wool of the Andes in Amber Heather colorway. I'll be using the yarn double to make gauge.

I love seeing everyone's color choices and their progress as well. I think I will knit it as written and if I ever do it again, I'll give it a go with knitting in the round!!
